But I can tell you for 4 points. It was originally created to relieve the stomach. Oh I've already recovered that. Oh yeah, sorry I can originally I can tell you it was for 4 points. It was named after the town it was invented in.

00:08.47
Padraig Fox
Um, yes.

00:16.14
fungalboy
But people often mistakenly assume that it is named after an ingredient.

00:19.71
Padraig Fox
Um, so or that's tough because I I'm still think it's up to Germanic. So I don't know if there's a town called app full of stash or something in the general world ah or barely town like there's probably quite a few beers that are. Named after local, but if probably not invented for stomachgae or this this is wrong. But in the interest of time I'm going to guess slave of it.

00:47.52
fungalboy
No it. It is not I think this this clue for 3 points though is is a big one. Um and I'm I'm thinking this could be it for you. So This has this product has a very distinctive label which is. Obvious and renowned around the world. However, it is believed that it is the result of a printing error. Yes, yes, it is indeed. In fact, I have a bottle in my hand, the oversized the very distinctive oversized label.

01:13.40
Padraig Fox
Um, is this angustora.

01:24.27
fungalboy
But you see was believed originally to be a printing error and that they just printed the wrong size and it was so distinctive. They decided ah sure we'll keep it tell me.

01:32.23
Padraig Fox
Do you know how you know this will because I quizzed you on angus storea about eight months ago and that was one of the clues.

01:44.17
fungalboy
Ah, it was in my head that maybe we'd done this before and then I wasn't sure and then do you know what? I did I went to chat gbt and I said give me a list of all the drinks that um bizbev pod have ah quized on and it said oh I can't do that because I only have up to 2000 and 1 our 2021 information so I couldn't do that. Ah.

02:06.74
Padraig Fox
Ah, well therefore we know that we covered it in 2022 and you should not be using chat gp t to write your marketing blurbs or college assignments.

02:14.59
fungalboy
ah ah yeah for 2 points. It's made in Venezuela originally but is now based in Porter Spain in Trinidad and Tobago capital of Trinidad and Tobago. In fact, a place I have actually been believe it or not yeah ah port spent fabulous place. Love just really enjoyed it. Um.

02:24.72
Padraig Fox
I did not know that that's quite interesting.

02:33.25
fungalboy
And then lastly for one point it wouldn't when a few dashes of these bitters make a gin pink or a fashioned old.

02:40.53
Padraig Fox
Um, ah of course it's It's a to this day I'm still not sure those bottles ever empty. Just there always seems to be liquid in them. It'll sit in your drinks cabinet for years and there will you can use it. You can make all fashion. You can do whatever else. There will always be liquid in that bottle.

02:56.21
fungalboy
Although in doing my research I did find a number of recipes where they suggested adding it to soups and stws which surprised me.

03:02.75
Padraig Fox
Well, as soon as it gets to soup and due season we shall have to test that out.

03:08.94
fungalboy
Ah so 3 points very solid 3 points well done apologies for for repeating a beverage. We try not to but it happens.

03:15.53
Padraig Fox
Well do you know what? I took me tree guesses to get to it so there was obviously nucleus in there as well.

03:22.19
fungalboy
Ah, all right shoot you this time I gotta do better than 3 or or trying match you.

03:24.89
Padraig Fox
Yeah, I'm pretty sure you will because I'm fairly positive. You're quite familiar with this. Ah this this particular company slash brand. So so will for 5 points. The company was founded in 70 and 77

03:35.80
fungalboy
Ah.

03:41.91
Padraig Fox
After the founder sold a transport business that had been used for transporting another company's brand.

03:50.98
fungalboy
Ah, so seventeen seventy seven that's a great that's a great number. So I believe the lestoke estate in Ireland who now have a gin and a gin school I think that they were 17 77 but I'm pretty sure it's not them because that would be very very niche and I wonder I thought that schweps was founded in 1777 or around that I'm gonna go schwepps.

04:20.88
Padraig Fox
Ah, you could well be right on schrepp's founding ear. The the answer is not schres for this one and all right. But if you thought yeah if you thought that was in each clue for 4 points one hundred years later in ah eighteen seventy seven

04:27.87
fungalboy
Ah, okay, okay I have to look that up I it's around then anyway.

04:39.79
Padraig Fox
The company was hit by huge controversy when the de facto ceo Fred Gretton began an affair with with the teenage fanny Lucy Radmall who later became lady Houston and left her £6000 in his will to the dismay of his family.

04:54.45
fungalboy
Oh what.

04:58.24
Padraig Fox
Fred Fred seems quite the character so he actually left the company to start a a resourcing stable and apparently was quite impressive of that and then came back into the company.

05:10.17
fungalboy
Oh my god that's mad. Um, okay, found it seventy seventy seven eighteen seventy seven Ceo has a fair with teenager ah is is what I'm getting. Ah.

05:20.51
Padraig Fox
Is it.

05:26.00
fungalboy
Um, I'm I'm not sure I'm gonna get it. But um I guess say bas.

05:36.85
Padraig Fox
It is bass and.

05:43.46
fungalboy
Ah, there was something ringy around the back of my head about the seventeen seventy seven that that kind of just struck me that maybe it was Bas or something or of that vintage. Wow okay few. Ah.

05:55.30
Padraig Fox
Well done for a for a very nice clue that was exceptionally well done because very for 3 points 100 years after that in 1988 the company franchised the holiday in name outside of North America and then a year later just purchased a holiday in chain entirely.

06:02.76
fungalboy
I.

06:10.82
fungalboy
Yeah, and then essentially just continue to move away further further and further until eventually this older brewing business altogether.

06:18.10
Padraig Fox
Exactly so for 2 points it would have been in 2020 its historic brewery and museum in Burton and trent was put up for sale for redevelopment and then finally for one point its red triangle was the first ever uk trademark.

06:31.54
fungalboy
Yes, the story being that they sent a boy to queue overnight so that he would be the first in line when the trademark office newly created trademark office opened? Yeah, ah.

06:43.79
Padraig Fox
And again I can only imagine that person working in the trademark office opened the the document the boy had brought and just went ah that's bass.

06:51.52
fungalboy
Ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, very good. Um, have you ever been to Burton on trendt.

06:56.28
Padraig Fox
I haven't but it's somewhere that a I would quite like to go actually it was a channel 4 a Bbc did a ah show it was one of those megafactories one that did the molton chos breweries in burton on tread and what well worth of watch on on whatever player you can use to to find this.

07:10.78
fungalboy
Yeah, so I've been a couple of times I was there when I was doing my brewing exams many years ago I spent a week in Burton on trent and went to various different breweries and loved it. The marsdensbury in particular which has got undergone some stuff recently I know but. It was it was fascinating and to watch the kind of the original um fermentation method they use in Marston's which was just plain old strange but very very educational. So how do you recommend it.

07:40.78
Padraig Fox
Yeah, and I know there's a lot of um outcry when they announced that they were selling the brewery and museum site and I think was there removed by Burton to move the museum into the city center I don't know how far that got or whatever a solution was found.

07:52.40
fungalboy
Obviously Burtton on Trent Bay is the home of brewing in in england you know it's it's the original birthplace of of palele and ah and indeed then ipa um, so there's a huge amount of it still. In fact, to this day talk about the water profile in Burtton and trent being perfect for creation of. Um, different types of beers and and paleals in particular. So. It's huge historic significance but you have to find a way to make it work obviously still a lot of brewing done in the town. But how do you actually make it work as a tourist attraction and you know I don't know it's been twenty odd years since I was there. But what I can tell you is.

08:30.40
Padraig Fox
Fear is good.

08:31.36
fungalboy
Is good right? Well done I managed to Pip that one um, kind of just pulled it out of my back pocket shall we say.

08:40.44
Padraig Fox
Yes, no excellent work. Um I am going to leave you for the day now I'm going to go and look at our website which apparently exists.

08:46.26
fungalboy
Ah, and you might consider signing up to support the show foxy. Don't forget that right? well done.

08:54.52
